Interactive Sound Art — Acoustic Milieu

Project

Acoustic Milieu is an ongoing research-led sound art project exploring how listening and attention shape the experience of sonic environments. The project emerged from my engagement with Professor Jing Wang’s research on acoustic milieu, listening, and sonic experience, prompting me to consider how related theoretical questions might be explored through interactive practice. Built through generative sound, spatial interaction, and continuously evolving audiovisual states, the work responds to the participant’s presence and behaviour rather than unfolding as a fixed composition. It serves as a practical site for investigating how attention organises auditory perception, how sonic environments emerge through interaction, and how ideas developed through sound studies can be translated into embodied and participatory experience.
